The Furnace Repair Man: A Blessing in Disguise

D went in to soccer conditioning this afternoon. And as he did it just happened that I took a lollipop away from Conleigh because she was sticking it on things like chairs, blankets, her shirt, etc.. The two events combined resulted in a major melt down. Usually when she gets told "no" she looks to D for some cuddling. And he was gone. Not a happy camper. Screaming, crying, gnashing of teeth. And refusing to be comforted. That's her MO. She will allow D to comfort but will not let me hold her, rock her, cuddle her, etc. when she's upset. So what do you do? She's too mobile to just put her down and let her tantrum. When I try to hold her, she arches her back and pushes away. For long amounts of time. And it seems to make the tantruming worse. So I did a combination of holding, sitting close, blocking the door way to the living room with my body, rubbing the back and hair, praying outloud, and saying 1 Corinthians 13 outloud. (Mostly to remind myself what love is...LOL) Anyway, still going strong after like 20-25 minutes. And then the furnace repair man in the basement pounded on something very loudly. And it scared her right into my arms. Tantrum done. Scary noises mean I need my Mama. I had to chuckle at how funny that was. Instant need for a Mama. She can run but she can't hide!

If there was a "like" button I would click it for this post. Keep on keeping on ... she does need her Mama, and hopefully one day soon she will run into your arms every time!

Ha, ha. Good to see you are keeping your perspective. I Cor 13 is definitely good for that. Yup, she knows you love her, she's just got to try stuff out, doesn't she? Have a great rest of the week!

Ha! Love it when something like that happens. Mine have a stubborn streak too.
